July Happenings at Poppins on Mackinac

Posted by Kate Rise on

It is the end of July and we packed in a lot of fun this month at Poppins on Mackinac!Bayview Yacht Race Yachts in the Marina on Mackinac Island On the evening of July 4th, locals and tourists alike gathered along the West bluff, parking bikes and sitting in the grass to watch the island’s fireworks. While waiting for the show to begin we chatted and ate chocolate chip cookies in the beautiful night. From our vantage point we could see four firework displays! Mission Point’s fireworks could be seen in the eastern skies peaking out from above the Grand Hotel. Looking straight ahead from West Bluff, a barge anchored below filled the skies with a beautiful display above the Straits. And in the far off distance, both Mackinaw City and Cheboygan’s fireworks could be seen.

Afterwards, a quick bike ride down Grand Hill found us at the Pink Pony just in time to hear Myk Rise play the Star Spangled Banner on his electric guitar. Happy Birthday America!

Are you a fan of stickers? We are! Poppins, Poppins(Home) and Caddywampus have a variety of stickers to tempt you. Laurenspired stickers at Poppins on MackinacLaurenspired is a new company that we are carrying this season that features the artwork of Lauren DeMarco of New Jersey. Finding inspiration from colorful textiles, thrifted materials, the garden, and the beach, she creates charming stickers that have a boho look. Some of our favorites are the flowers, patchwork butterflies, and moths.Yachts in the Mackinac Island MarinaJuly is the month for yacht racing on Mackinac Island.
